Castlemaine Parish 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time 23rd/24th October 2021 |
Mission Sunday 24th October 2021
This Sunday is Mission Sunday. The body that coordinates this day has a new name ‘Missio Ireland’, to harmonise with the name in other countries worldwide. Ponder, pray about and share, our faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The annual Mission collection is held worldwide to support the work of missionaries in poor and remote communities; for example, helping build vital infrastructure, churches, formation centres for religious and clergy, medical clinics, and schools. Thank the people for their generosity to this cause.
The kindness shown will help overseas missionaries to continue to share the love of God with some of the world’s most marginalised and vulnerable people. Thank you for supporting in whatever way you can, and please remember it is more than an appeal for financial help. Missionaries also need spiritual support. On World Mission Sunday, missionaries take great strength in knowing that the faithful of the world are keeping them in their thoughts and prayers. Help by donating €4.00 by texting the word Mission to 50300. Alternatively donate at www.missio.ie or call Missio Ireland on (01) 497 2035.
The theme this year is “We cannot remain silent – We cannot but speak about what we have seen and heard (Acts 4:20)”. Let us honour and remind the people of all the dedicated missionaries, past and present, from our own diocese.

Hopefully personal responsibility on the part of all, regarding the basics of hand sanitising, mask wearing, and social distancing will keep the virus under control. Let us all be careful, if only for the sake of the sick who will need hospitalisation and all medical staff who have bravely coped with so much already. Our Lady health of the sick, pray for us.
