Love Conquers All Things…..
It was a busy morning, about 8:30, when an elderly gentleman in his 80’s arrived to have stitches removed from his thumb. He said he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00 am. The medic took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone would be able to see him. Since he, himself, was not busy the medic took time to evaluate the man’s wound. The wound was well healed, and so he talked to one of the doctors, got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redress his wound. While taking care of his wound, the medic asked his patient if he had another doctor’s appointment as he was in such a hurry. The gentleman said that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife. In answer to the medic’s question about her health, the old man responded that she had been there for a while and that she was a victim of Alzheimer’s disease. When the medic asked if she would be upset if he was a bit late, he replied that she no longer knew who he was, that she had not recognized him in five years now. The medic was surprised, and asked him why, if his wife didn’t know who he was, he went every morning faithfully for the breakfast. The old man smiled and said, “She doesn’t know me, but I still know who she is.” The medic with tears in the eyes said to himself, “That is the kind of love I want in my life.”

Return of Congregations
I am delighted to welcome you all back to our churches from Tuesday 11th May onwards. Please take note of the following information:
- There will be no booking or texting system this time around.
Instead, you are invited to attend Mass. There will be a sign in sheet at every entrance door. Please sign your name and telephone number for contact tracing purposes and sanitise pen after use or please bring your own pen.
- There will be ushers at the doors for any assistance required.
- Keel Church will be divided into 3 sections. The main aisle and two side aisles. Please ensure you enter and leave the church through the same door. Kiltallagh Church – one section will be in place. Once we reach our capacity, you may remain outside in the church grounds.
- Every second seat will be tapered off and we ask that you socially distance using the 2-metre rule in the available seats.
- Anniversary Masses: There will be a designated area in both churches for families attending an Anniversary Mass.
- The dispensation from attending Mass on Sundays and Holydays of obligation remains in place until further notice. You are encouraged to attend Mass on any day during the week which fulfils your Sunday obligation.
- Any person with an underlying medical condition or at a high risk of illness or who does not feel ready to return to public Mass, can continue participating in the Mass online at www.castlemaineparish.com
- Please ensure that you wear face coverings in the church and sanitise as you enter and leave the church. The churches will be sanitised regularly.
- Baptisms – Baptisms may take place with small numbers.
- Masses will continue online www.castlemaineparish.com

True love is neither physical, nor romantic. True love is an acceptance of all that is, has been, will be, and will not be. In today’s Gospel, Jesus commands, us to practice this type of sacrificial and selfless agápe love as he practiced it.
Let us be persons for others:
Jesus demonstrated the love God, his Father, has for us by living for us and dying for us. Hence, as his disciples, we are to be persons for others, sacrificing our time, talents, and lives for others. This is what parents spontaneously do for their children by sacrificing themselves, their time, talents, health, and wealth for them. That is, they “spend” themselves for their children. The most effective way of communicating God’s love to others is by treating everyone as a friend, giving each the respect he or she deserves as a human being, God’s creation. In moments of trial and stress, when people are hostile or ungrateful and we feel the pull of bitter resentment in our hearts, it is important for us to remember that Christ’s own love was not limited to the people he liked. Hence, we should close our minds to thoughts of revenge.
